SUMMARY / BROAD FUNCTION

The Production Manager is responsible for cost effective manufacturing of company products consistent with required quality standards, safe work practices, effective housekeeping and maintaining compliance with personnel policies. S/he will drive operational excellence and build organizational capability to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Culture objectives. The driving focus is the successful achievement of department objectives through effective deployment of continuous improvement of key processes and training and development of staff.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Manage daily production operations through the production supervisors and production teams to maximize production efficiency including labor cost, volume or product produced, run rates, raw material utilization, yield loss, downtime, and slowdown while producing high quality product in a safe manner. 
  • Ensure that standards and expectations are in place, routinely communicated, clearly understood and consistently met.
  • Monitor production’s daily operation; prepare the daily production schedule; and ensure proper staffing levels to include managing department vacation and overtime to meet production goals. Direct the prioritization of production requirements and shift activity among department supervisors.
  • Monitor productions training needs, organize monthly and yearly training calendar and ensure that there are sufficient skilled personnel in all production positions to deal with unexpected headcount fluctuations and capacity increase.
  • Schedule and develop and/or delegate the weekly production plan and all the activities related to R&D.
  • Meet daily production schedule and requirements. Work jointly with logistics and purchasing to ensure appropriate inventory is available, while balancing both production efficiency and raw material demands.
  • Monitor production indicators, set production objectives and implement action plans for achieving set targets
  • Manage food safety standards and ensure compliance with HAACP, CCP, SQF, FDA, etc. and take action and/or follow-up when deficiencies are noted
  • Manage the implementation of new product manufacturing
  • Develop strategic plans to identify and address current and future challenges
  • Drive towards zero incident culture by supporting implementation of Health and Safety actions and deliverables
  • Communicate and work with maintenance department to maintain, repair or replace production equipment to ensure smooth operations

STAFF DEVELOPMENT

  • Supervise, train and coach manufacturing teams including Supervisors and Team Leads to ensure maximum quality and productivity. Provide formal objectives and measurements for plant personnel and ensure that production teams are well trained, involved and committed to meeting production, quality, and safety requirements
  • Provide leadership and direction to the production department. Responsible for maintaining an environment for good employee relations. Work closely with human resources and supervisors to ensure appropriate staffing is maintained. Participate in hiring process to ensure we hire motivated team members
  • Establish clear lines of communications and teamwork within the production department and among the other organization’s areas for clarity on best ways to achieve the results for the Key Metrics

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Anticipate, plan, and execute capacity plans to meet customer demand; forecast material requirements; and control inventory levels
  • Support continuous improvement through the effective deployment of assessment and Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Establish processes to involve employees in decision making and continuous improvement and establish trust and credibility through follow up and effective communication forums (e.g. daily startup meetings, monthly department meetings)
  • Execute performance management processes and ensure alignment of goals from Staff to shop floor to drive organizational performance and continual learning and development
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing management with project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in process and quality improvements, implementing strategy for production operations, hiring/training/coaching employees and performance management
  • Lean, Six Sigma, CQE, or CQM certification a huge plus
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills to establish, communicate and execute a guiding vision to direct reports and meet all operations objectives
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills

POSITION TITLE: Quality Control Manager

SUMMARY / BROAD FUNCTION

The Quality Control Manager will manage the production quality team, the baker and the sanitation team to ensure quality and food safety are maintained in all steps of the process.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES 

  • Manager the quality control team, the sanitation team and the baker with effective direction and training of quality processes and procedures to ensure the best quality products.
  • Develop and implement statistical process control of the line quality control.
  • Be responsible for the final product quality controls and validation by developing, improving, and implementing methods and testing.
  • Validate and release manufacturing batch records for quality and regulatory compliance (labelling, weights, etc) including USDA productions and Kosher productions
  • Manage and organize all internal inspections, calibration, and verifications as per quality management system schedule and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Work closely with the operation team to monitor, record, and follow up all non-conformities through Root Cause analysis.
  • Work with the management team to develop and implement continuous improvement plans decided following RCA
  • Ensure appropriate implementation of food safety plan throughout the plant and coordinate appropriate associate trainings (CCP, GMPs, Food Hygiene)
  • Manage and maintain plant sanitation programs, including master sanitation schedule.
  • Manage the environmental monitoring plan as well as finished products and raw materials monitoring plans.
  • Be a member of the food safety team.
  • Develop and monitor quality control KPIs and communicate regularly with the management team.
  • Be part of the internal auditing team and do internal audits and follow up on plans of action.
  • Manage the Food defense plan

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in a food science or food related field with a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in quality and food safety, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PCQI Certified a must
  • Internal auditor trained preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQF or other GFSI standard required trained practitioner preferred.
  • Be trained in food defense.
  • Supervisory / managerial experience required
  • Continuous improvement training a plus

The Production Supervisor oversees the production operations and the supervision of production associates.  S/he is responsible for compliance with all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards, and for coaching, mentoring, training and motivating associates to achieve performance excellence.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Responsible for the supervision and performance of the production staff.
  • Provide development and direction by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results; coaching and counseling associates; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor schedule and ensure shifts are properly staffed by planning workforce requirements and recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training associates.

Implement new products, facility and equipment upgrades, and the process, environmental, and safety improvement goals of the company.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience supervising or managing a manufacturing operation
  • Practical experience in web converting (slitting) and packaging
  • Basic knowledge of Coating and Laminating process.
  • Technical skills around slitting and converting equipment. 
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices in a manufacturing operation
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrable mechanical aptitude
  • Bi-lingual skills: English and Spanish are a plus. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess work conditions in each work cell and step in to make adjustments as required;
  • Provide shop floor supervision of the slitting and packaging operations;
  • Teach and coach shop floor employees without doing the job for them;
  • Emphasize safety, quality, and efficiency in that order;
  • Guide the department’s workplace organization (6S) program;
  • Coordinate material flow to/from the work cells with warehouse personnel;
  • Ensure that all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is available to, and used by, shop floor employees;
  • Follow and implement the daily production schedule;
  • Hire personnel and arrange for their required training; and
  • Keep production records up to date.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years’ minimum experience in Facility and Plant Maintenance.
  • Proficient Machinist and Welder
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with good people skills is desired.
  • Basic Electrical Knowledge including troubleshooting of electrical controls and drives.
  • Proven supervisory & leadership skills
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish is a plus.
  • High School Diploma
  • Basic knowledge of Coating and Laminating process is a plus.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Maintain all equipment in a safe & efficient working condition.
  • Upgrade or modify machines or critical systems to ensure achievement of company’s goals.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Schedule and ensure timely completion of preventive and repair work orders

  • Maintain adequate inventory of spares & critical machine components.

  • Maintain clean & efficient work area

  • Fabricate replacement parts or machine parts as needed using a milling machine, lathe, drill press, and other machine tools.

  • Weld repair machine parts as needed

  • Continually evaluate department resource needs as business conditions change

Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering and relevant project experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.
Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product design changes on expenditures for management review, action, and control.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Continuous monitoring of production equipment and personnel on a shift basis to ensure the manufacture of quality products at minimum cost. Ensure the safety of all the employee on the shift.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Ensure the readiness of material for production.
• Monitor production for quality.
• Provide approval by signature for each manufacturing set-up.
• Provide a safe working environment.
• Provide on the job training for all operators when running new products or processes.

QUALITY RESPONSIBILITY

Ensure that all jobs are run according to specification and alert the quality department if specifications are found to be incorrect

SHIFTS AVAILABLE

2nd Shift: 3 pm – 11 pm
3rd Shift: 11pm – 7 am
