Currently seeking a Control Systems Engineer for a great opportunity in the Fairfield, CT area. The ideal candidate will possess 2+ years of recent/ relevant experience and be focused in automation software, integration and automation, industrial controls, PLCs, industry protocols, Ethernet systems, and industry SCADA practices.

Responsibilities of the Control Systems Engineer

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring.
• Assist the Control Systems Engineer and the Electrical Maintenance Group in technical support activities of the SCADA system, including trouble-shooting, calibration, loop tuning and set up of control systems and instrumentation in a process environment.
• Contribute to control strategy specifications, application guides, technical papers, hardware and software testing, and commissioning.
• Contribute to new automation development projects and enhancements to existing automation systems.
• Help internal customers apply SCADA systems through visits, demonstrations, training and telephone contact.
• Develop expertise in Automation while maintaining and improving general knowledge of all SCADA applications.
• Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve engineering quality procedures.
• Daily SAP Notification completion & follow-up.
• Participate in industry technical meetings, and conferences.
• Assist as project automation mediator for external integration services.
• Development of network architectures such as, but not limited to Ethernet, Modbus, Profinet, Genius, Device-net, etc.

Requirements of the Controls Engineer

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science & Engineering with a minimum of 2 years’ experience programming & development of SCADA & PLC applications using Wonderware / GE controller hardware & software. This will require knowledge of scripting & programming in various development languages and platforms.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience troubleshooting capability of all PLC & HMI applications.
• Acting member of ‘Automation Standards’ group to define programming standards for SCADA / Automation controls development environment.
• Successful completion of external training courses for automation hardware and software platforms, allowing a continual advancement of individual skill set.
• Capable of understanding a long-term vision for SCADA systems in a remote deployment environment. This should include an expandable architecture for data collection, control capabilities for individual remote nodes, forecasting for site upgrades & facility audits.
• Capable of creating the proper engineering documents using Auto-Cad software, such as but not limited to P&ID drawings, Networking Architectural Layouts, Electrical Schematics, As Built Drawings, Control Enclosure Layout, etc.
• Capable of creating logic, per an established standard to satisfy a control strategy, functional description or control algorithm in an automated process control environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma
• Basic knowledge of Coating and Laminating process.

• Technical skills around slitting and converting equipment. 
• Strong mechanical aptitude with good people skills is desired.
• Physics is more important than chemistry in Converting department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Continuous monitoring of production equipment and personnel on a shift basis to ensure the manufacture of quality products at minimum cost.  Ensure the safety of all the employee on the shift.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Ensure the readiness of material for production.
• Monitor production for quality.
• Provide approval by signature for each manufacturing set-up.
• Provide a safe working environment.
• Provide on the job training for all operators when running new products or processes.
